KAJSA WILLNER
Malmö, Sweden
Kajsa Willner (Swedish, b 1982) is an industrial designer based in Malmö, SWE. Willner’s work is driven by a strong interest in materials, craft techniques and interdisciplinary collaborations. Kajsa runs a research based and experimental studio practice where her self-initiated projects are often inspired by the beauty of science in nature. She is questioning current systems and status quo, by focusing on using design as a tool to find methods that can encourage new perspective and future progress that goes beyond the product. Her work is driven by the desire to explore various possibilities within interdisciplinary project collaborations, with everything from communicating science and academic research to developing new sustainable materials from industrial leftovers. She has recently explored possibilities for waste materials to be seen as a future resource in her latest project Crafted Potential. Willner’s work at large is translated into sculptures, materials, installations and communicative exhibitions that merge craft, science and nature.
